I upgraded the iOS version to 2.14 on my iPhone 5. After the upgrade, it said a new version of the firmware was available for Redeye so I selected to upgrade it. It had 5 parts to the upgrade and was taking a while so I switched to another app. Later, I opened the browser version to see what was new... the firmware was still 2.13.
My question is, did I need to keep the iOS open to upgrade the firmware?
Yes, you must keep the app open while a firmware upgrade is installing. Each part is downloaded separately, then uploaded to your RedEye unit(s). After all parts have been uploaded, it will then extract and install the update. I always make sure that auto lock is set to "Never" in settings to be sure my iOS device doesn't lock during an update. You may try going into the web based configuration page for your RedEye and try to manually trigger a firmware update...
While it's updating via the iOS app, there should be some warning message to keep the app open!
I did try to trigger the firmware update with the browser version to no avail. I'm guessing the firmware is not on your server's upload directory so RedEye thinks there's no update yet (?). Please provide a link.
Can you confirm that when you go to the web browser app of the RedEye, that the software version now says 2.14.0? I updated the iOS app, and it told me that there was an update for the hardware. I let it update, but the browser still says 2.13.0.
To be sure, I wiped my config and reset back to the factory version ( 2.1.0 ) and again updated via the iOS app, and even then the version in the browser was 2.13.0 - I can't see how there can be a 2.14.0 version when this procedure still resulted in 2.13.0, because there would have been no record of that version on the hardware after the full reset. My iOS version is definitely 2.14.0, and as I said I just let iOS update the RedEye pro. It IS strange since the iOS app did the offered to update the hardware version even though the first time I tried that version was 2.13.0 both before and after updating.... so:
1) If there isn't an update available, why did iOS offer the update and apparently install it?
2) If there IS an update, why did the version go from 2.1.0 to 2.13.0 after the hard reset?
I have the same issue, is app updated and started to upgrade redeye pro. Unfortunately OS closed during update (doh!) and after having problems getting back in to Redeye I finally managed to do a factory reset, re installed latest backup. I tried using latest app and legacy and both would drop out. I do have a working system (just) but app is v2.14 but using browser redeye is v2.13.
I did reset the redeye and tried to use the latest app but it would not recognise there was an update to do
Ditto have successful upgrade and reports 2.14.0 on iOS6 devices - although Firmware on Redeye Pro is still saying 2.13.0 - not affecting performance at all - and not yet looked at any new browser based functions
