I've been whining on about my RedEye issues for at least six months now. Switched from using the Android app to using the browser app on Android and iOS, and things have been better, but certainly not perfect. Had a new and "interesting" thing happen just now... the sequence was:
It seemed that most things came on, except for the IP controlled power socket for my sub-woofer, plus the activity didn't seem to start on the iOS app ( just sat there on the select activity page. )
I waited a while, and tried selecting the activity again.
My IP controlled lounge light came on. ***
I loaded the web browser on a PC and switched the light off again. Selected the activity on the web browser app.
The sub-woofer came on, but the activity didn't show up still.
Went back to the iOS app and selected the activity again. This time it showed up, and seemed to work as normal. The activity still didn't show up on the web browser, and nor could I switch activities, so gave up and rebooted the box.
*** This is the "interesting" part. The command to turn the light on does not appear in the activity start sequence. In fact, it doesn't even appear in the layout ( though there is a button to turn a different light on via the same IP controller, ) nor does it appear ANYWHERE other than as a device command and a button in a device layout. How on earth is it even possible for the RedEye to decide to send a command which is not part of any sequence? This is very worrying - not only do I have devices which I would not see if they were switched on ( which obviously use power if they are on when they shouldn't be ) but I certainly wouldn't want the RedEye randomly deleting stuff from my PVR, for example.
Finally, a note on "that closed thread" directed at Sarah. I can well understand that you get annoyed/frustrated when people criticise you and/or the product that you are involved with. However, those same people have spent money on the product, and some of them ( us ) are getting very frustrated with that product. However, any software can have issues... I don't think that anyone expects it to be perfect ( even though a remote controller needs to be pretty close, at least in its basic functionality. ) The problem that I have is that you have not once acknowledged that these problems exist, or that we can expect any sort of resolution any time soon... to me it seems as if you are just ignoring the issues, or that you are afraid to admit that they exist because of how that looks. You will no doubt say that you aren't, but without any sort of concrete information words simply don't cut it. Since the issues that I have seem to happen frequently ( especially with the Android app, ) and since you have my config, I can't believe for one second that you haven't also seen some of them ( unless of course you have not tested it for more than a few minutes. )
The other concern that I have is that you went from issuing regular updates every couple of months or so, to not producing one in the last 8 months, when it seems more issues exist with the last update than previous ones, and with absolutely no explanation or indication as to when we can see a new one. To be honest if it wasn't for the issues that I'm having, I wouldn't care about this point so much because I can do most things I want to do, but I know that there are some who are seeing other systems advance where RedEye does not.
